The celebration of Armata is a particularly impressive celebration that takes place in the port of Spetses every year on the second Saturday of September. It is a series of weekly cultural and religious events culminating in the enactment of the burning effigy of the Turkish flagship. The event is dedicated to the glorious victory of the Greeks against the Turks in Spetses waters, one of the highlights of the race in 1821.

The Tomb of Salaminomachoi is located on the north coast of Kynosoura front of the sea area where was the historic battle of Salamis in 480 BC Opponents in battle were the fleets of the united forces of the Greeks with 370 ships, of which half was Athenian, and the Persians (Herodotus 1207 ships, but more likely to be around 600-700 warships). The position of confrontation, which was the choice of Themistocles favored faster, smaller and more nimble Greek ships. At the end of the battle, the mighty Persian fleet was annihilated and the Greeks repel Persian threat occupation of Peloponnese.

The Patras Carnival is the largest carnival event in Greece. It counts 180 years of history. The events begin on January 17 and last until Clean Monday.
